비평가와 팬들이 Shakedown Street를 듣고 디스코 데드야? 라고 말했다고 합니다. :-) 리듬이 Funky 하죠.
이 앨범에서 여러곡을 만들었던 Micky Hart는 이렇게 말했습니다.
"What Happened was I think we were really influenced by that Bee Gees stuff. We really liked it."
(우린 정말 비지스거에 영향을 받았다고 생각해. 우린 정말 그걸 좋아했다고.)
그리고 또 Midwest투어중에 Jerry Garcia를 붙들고선 수시간동안 차를 몰고 Saturday Night Fever를 상영하는 극장을 찾아가서 관람을 하고 돌아왔다고 합니다.
"We got back and we got everybody in the hotel room - in my room or something, and we did the Saturday Night Fever dance"
"I swear to God, We did the steps, you know? Of course, we were in an altered state of consciousness"

하여튼,,, 그렇게 해서 Shakedown Street의 박동하는 리듬과 가성하모니(Donna Jean, Jerry, Bobby)의 영감이 태어났다고 합니다.
